Project Partners: Queensland Program of Assistance for Suvivors of Trauma and Torture (QPASTT), and La Trobe University

Project Date: March 2010

About the Project:
Storyscape facilitated a three-day digital storytelling workshop with young Burmese (Karen) refugees. This was part of QPASTT’s suicide prevention program for young refugees, and research being undertaken by La Trobe University. The young people taking part become peer researchers, and created short films that provided insights into the ‘protective’ and ‘risk’ factors around self harm/suicide. The process itself was therapeutic for those involved and has helped QPASTT staff shape their program more effectively.
